At the foot of the Roc de la Pêche and the Petit Mont Blanc, with the Génépy glacier as a backdrop, the Refuge du Roc invites you to discover the exceptional natural setting of the Vanoise National Park.
Whether you love snowshoeing or cross-country skiing in winter or prefer to put on your walking boots in summer, we welcome you all year round for an authentic stay in the mountains with your partner, family, friends or colleagues.
You will also have the opportunity to try your hand at salmon or trout fishing near the Refuge, which you may know by its former name, the Refuge du Roc de la Pêche. Whether you are a novice or a regular visitor to mountain refuges, come and treat yourself to a unique experience by spending the night in a mountain refuge, before leaving with stars in your eyes.
The Refuge du Roc is particularly notable for its history. Originally an old mountain pasture founded by monks of the Augustinian Order, it was built in 1996 on the ruins of the original building. The site has miraculously preserved its chapel dating from 1150, which was then the highest in the Alps along with that of the Grand-Saint-Bernard.
Inside, you will fully appreciate the richness of its past, particularly through the remains of motifs associated with primitive Alpine art practised by monks from the 12th century onwards and the Baroque influences that subsequently permeated many mountain chapels.
Now, we invite you to celebrate your ceremonies (weddings, christenings, etc.) in this place steeped in history.
